Why have a Residency?

The church is God’s plan A for the world. Here and around the world, godly and gifted men and women are needed to lead and serve the church to see lives changed by the gospel! The Residency exists to equip and deploy future church leaders.

What is the Residency?

The Center Church Residency is a 2-3 year program during which you will be a full-time member of the Center Church Staff Team. Your assigned areas of ministry will depend on your residency track, giftings, passions, and areas of need within Center Church. We recommend that you take 2-3 seminary classes each semester and provide you hours during the work week to do some homework!

How will the Residency prepare me for ministry?

We focus on three main areas of development throughout the Residency Program. 1) Spiritual health (personal discipleship), emotional health (EQ), and relational health (friendships), 2) Theological and biblical knowledge, and 3) Leadership and communication skills.

We accomplish this development through personal and professional mentoring, seminary courses, and ministry experience and evaluation.

What if I am not sure about my calling to full-time ministry yet?

The residency is a great opportunity for both those called to full-time ministry and those still discerning the call. Your development will translate to many areas including lay church leadership, your life in general, and your professional career.

How is the Residency funded?

Residents partner with Center Church, Support Raising Solutions, and the Missionary Service Corps to raise personal funding for the Residency. You will have all of the tools and training needed to succeed in this – and the experience itself will be helpful for future ministry opportunities that include fund-raising like planting or leading a church.

How do seminary courses work?

Seminary is optional in the Residency. If you choose to do seminary courses (which we hope you do), you will be given work-hours to complete some of your work. You can include seminary costs in fund-raising and we will also connect you with grant/scholarship opportunities that could be a good fit.

What is the Residency application, acceptance, and program time-line?

• Application Deadline: January 31, 2024

• Acceptance Deadline: February 25, 2024

• March/April 2024: Fund-Raising Training

• April – July 2024: Fund-Raising

• August 1, 2024: Residency Program Orientation Day

Will I have a job at Center Church when I complete the Residency?

Not everyone who completes the Residency will have a job at Center following the program. We are deeply committed to helping you find your next step following the Residency and will support you through that process.
